War Thunder · Top Tier Air Arcade
Fight To Win!
VPO is an international War Thunder squadron that focuses on top tier Air Arcade.
Identity
Who we are
VPO has been flying together for almost ten years. We're not only a roster of individually good players; we play as a team, coordinate in voice chat, and support each other.
We are international. We have members from timezones all over the world. But we share a passion for top tier Air Arcade. The goal is straightforward: be the most lethal air arcade squadron.
At our core, we are a group of gamers who share a passion for War Thunder and competing at the highest level.

The arena
Top tier Air Arcade
TTAA is our home. It is fast, it is crowded, and at the top of the ladder it is decided by who has position and who has help — not by who brought the better airframe.
Our preferred competitive lineups run the United States, the USSR, France and China. Outside of competitive sessions, fly whatever you like: grind another nation, drop to a lower BR, play Realistic, play something that is not War Thunder. Nobody is checking.
When VPO is actually contesting a session, we just ask that you bring a lineup that can hold its own.

Doctrine
How we fly
Four things we actually hold ourselves to, rather than four things that sounded good on a banner.
-
Coordination over collection
A squadron is not a leaderboard with a Discord attached to it. We would rather field eight pilots who know how each other fly than twelve who happen to be online at the same time.
-
Improvement, not gatekeeping
Skill matters here — we are competitive and we are not going to pretend otherwise. But being coachable matters just as much. A solid pilot who wants to get better beats a great one who makes the night worse.
-
One standard of behaviour
International squadron, mixed skill levels, mixed languages, one standard. Being good at the game does not buy an exemption from being decent to the people you fly with.
-
Sustainable, not scorched
Veterans should not feel permanently responsible for carrying the squadron. Burnout has cost us good people before. We would rather protect the people we have than run them into the ground.
Rules of engagement
The Wingman Protocol
We support each other
Coordinating together and supporting eachother is the core of what we do. The Wingman Protocol is a set of expectations that make that possible.
That can mean joining in progress. It can mean queueing the next match. It can mean forming up before you launch, or simply being a second friendly aircraft the other team has to account for. Sometimes it is just a heads-up in Discord.
It does not mean you owe anyone a permanent squad. It means that when one of ours is getting worked over by a coordinated team, they should not have to sit through it by themselves.
Structure
Two wings
One community, two very different sets of expectations.
-
VPO — the competitive wing
Top tier Air Arcade, active participation, and pilots who want to be part of an organised team. This is where the squadron does its competing, and it is what recruitment is for.
-
NAJA — the honour guard
A home for trusted, long-serving members who do not want to hold the competitive tempo, or cannot right now. No activity requirement, no mode requirement. It is an exclusive, relaxed environment for our community members to enjoy the game at their own pace.
Recruitment
Flying with us
We are not trying to maximise headcount. We are trying to find people who fit.
What we look for
- You want to fly top tier Air Arcade
- You are good, or you are actively working on it
- You fly with your teammates, not merely near them
- You can communicate — voice is strongly encouraged during organised play, but text works
- You are someone people are glad to see in the channel
How it works
- Come into the public Discord and say hello. No application form, no essay.
- Fly a few matches with us. This is genuinely the whole audition — we want to see how you play with a team, not read about it.
- Talk to an officer. Everyone gets vetted before they get access to the main squadron. It is not a formality, but it is not an interrogation either.
Come fly with us.
The public server is open to anyone who wants to hang out or fly with us — you do not have to be applying to join.
Questions
Before you ask
-
What game and mode does VPO play?
War Thunder. Our organised competitive focus is top tier Air Arcade.
-
Do I have to be an elite player?
No, but you should be able to hold your own at top tier or be actively working towards it. Attitude and teamplay count for a lot here — we have turned down better pilots than we have accepted.
-
Can I still grind other nations and play other modes?
Yes. Play Realistic, play low tier, play a different game entirely. The only expectation is about what happens during active competitive sessions, when the squadron actually needs pilots.
-
Do I need Discord?
Yes. It is where the squadron organises, and there is no realistic way to coordinate without it.
-
Do I have to use voice chat?
It is strongly encouraged during organised play because it makes coordination dramatically easier. It is not an absolute requirement — members who cannot or would rather not talk can communicate by text. What matters is that you are visible and coordinating, not that you own a microphone.
-
What timezones and regions is VPO active in?
We are international, with members across several regions. Activity is heaviest in the evenings, in more than one timezone.
-
What is NAJA?
Our relaxed wing — a long-term home for established members of the community who do not want to maintain VPO’s competitive tempo. It is not open recruitment.
-
How do I actually apply?
Join the public Discord and talk to us. That is the whole front door.
